Halloween fell on a Saturday this year, so we did the only reasonable thing: we rented the track. On October 31st, the AZ Auto Aesthetics crew, our customers, and a lot of familiar faces from the Valley car community spent the day on the West Track at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler for our fall season opener — with our driving instructors leading the way in full costume.

If you were there, thank you. If you weren’t, here’s what you missed, and how to get on the list for the next one on Saturday, November 28th.

A Repaved West Track

If you haven’t been out to West Track in a while, it’s worth knowing that the 1.1-mile road course was repaved in fall 2025. A smooth, consistent surface makes a real difference on a technical layout like West — it’s easier to find your reference points, trust the car through the transitions, and focus on building pace lap after lap instead of reacting to bumps and patches.

If your last visit was before the resurfacing, expect a noticeably better track. And if you’re new to track days, it’s about as good a surface as you can ask for to start building confidence.

Costumed Coaches, Community, and Plenty of Seat Time

Halloween on a track day was too good to pass up, so our driving instructors showed up as a matching pair of racing legends — if you know, you know. Shake and bake.

Because we rent the track privately, the format stays the same: no crowded sessions, no long waits in grid, just open track and real seat time. The paddock had the kind of energy that keeps people coming back — drivers swapping notes between sessions, regulars helping first-timers get set up, and friends and family hanging out to watch.

Coaching with Mike McGovern

As always, coach Mike McGovern of My Driving Coach — “The Chief” — was on hand all day with a track walkthrough, lead/follow sessions, ride-alongs, and hot laps. With nearly 40 years of instructing behind him, Mike has a way of meeting every driver where they are, whether it’s someone’s first time on track or a regular chasing tenths. Having that level of coaching on site is a big part of what makes these days worthwhile.

Protecting Your Car for the Track

Track days are where front ends take the most abuse — rubber pickup, gravel, and debris from the car ahead all add up quickly. If you’re planning to get more seat time this season, our Full-Front + Track-Pack Coverage Option of XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film extends protection beyond the standard front end to the lower panels and rear quarters that take tire throw at speed. Ask us about it next time you’re at the shop — or at the track.
