Paint Correction + Ceramic Coating + Custom PPF Combo on a 2018 Camaro ZL1 — Mesa, AZ

When a car is already built to be pushed hard, the protection package needs to match. This 2018 Camaro ZL1 came into AZ Auto Aesthetics for a full multi-service treatment: paint correction, Feynlab Ceramic Ultra V2 coating, and a custom full-front PPF combo using both XPEL Ultimate Plus and XPEL Stealth film in a single install. The result is a car that’s corrected, coated, and protected for hard driving in Arizona conditions.

Services performed

  • Paint Correction
  • Feynlab Ceramic Ultra V2
  • Custom Full-Front Coverage — XPEL Ultimate Plus + XPEL Stealth PPF combo

Why the sequence matters: correction before coating before film

Every step in this process builds on the one before it, and the order is non-negotiable:

  1. Paint correction first — ceramic coating locks in what’s underneath it. Swirls, haze, and marring visible before coating will still be visible after. The Camaro’s dark paint was corrected first to restore depth and clarity before anything else went on.
  2. PPF on top (where applicable) — film goes on over the corrected surface on the high-impact zones, adding physical impact protection where rock chips and abrasion are most likely.
  3. Ceramic coating final step — applied to clean, corrected paint so it bonds correctly as well as over any PPF protected panels. This gives the hydrophobic and UV-resistant properties to all exposed surfaces.

The custom PPF combo: why mix Stealth and Ultimate Plus?

This is the part that makes this build unique. The customer requested a custom combination of XPEL Stealth (satin finish) and XPEL Ultimate Plus (gloss) across different panels of the front end.

This approach lets you:

  • Create a two-tone or contrast look on the front end without paint or vinyl
  • Apply Stealth film on specific panels (like the hood) for a satin accent while keeping the bumper or fenders in gloss
  • Still get full PPF protection across all covered panels — regardless of finish

Custom combo installs require careful planning of which panels get which film, precise edge alignment where the two films meet, and consistent application so the finish transition looks intentional and clean.

Feynlab Ceramic Ultra V2: why we use it

Not all ceramic coatings are created equal, and in Arizona’s heat, product choice matters. Feynlab Ceramic Ultra V2 is a professional-grade coating we use for its combination of durability, UV resistance, and performance in extreme heat environments.

  • Bonds at the molecular level to the clear coat — not sitting on top like wax
  • Strong hydrophobic behavior that helps shed monsoon mineral deposits before they bake on
  • UV resistance that slows the oxidation and fading Arizona sun accelerates
  • Chemical resistance against road contamination, bird drops, and harsh cleaning agents

Arizona driving conditions: what this setup handles

In the Phoenix metro — Mesa, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Chandler, and beyond — a high-performance vehicle faces a specific set of hazards:

  • Freeway rock chips on the 101, 202, and I-10, especially in construction zones
  • Abrasive desert dust that creates micro-marring if the paint isn’t properly protected during washes
  • Mineral-heavy monsoon rain that leaves deposits when it evaporates on hot paint
  • Intense UV that attacks uncoated or lightly protected clear coat year-round

The combination of paint correction + ceramic coating + PPF on the front end addresses all of these — correction restores the baseline, coating protects against chemical and UV threats, and PPF handles physical impacts.
